2 00 4 Dark energy and dark matter of the universe from One - loop renormalization of riccion

Here, creation of the universe is obtained out of " no matter or energy " , but only from gravity of 10-dimensional " bulk " space-time. In the beginning, the higher-derivative gravitational action is taken in (4 + D)-dimensional space-time with topology M 4 ⊗ S D , where M 4 is the usual 4-dimensional space-time and the D-dimensional sphere S D being a compact manifold. On compactification of (4 + D)-dimensional gravitational equations, it is found that the Ricci scalar in 3-branes behaves like a physical field representing a spinless particle, called " riccion ". One-loop quantum correction and renor-malization of riccion leads to renormalization group equations. Solutions of these equations yield mass scale dependence of coupling constants of the ric-cion action. From these solutions, it is found that D → 6 in the asymptotic limit. Thus an asymptotically free theory of riccion is obtained.
